Bedok North Secondary School

Background Information
Bedok North Secondary School (BNSS) (務能中學) is a secondary school in the Aljunied district of Singapore. Founded in 1981, it briefly shared the campus with Temasek Secondary School for a year before they relocated to their new campus along Bedok North Avenue 3. It had since been relocated again on 4 December 1999 to its current premises at 20 Jalan Damai in order to accommodate the increasing number of staff and students.

The school motto ' Learn and Serve ' brings across the message that learning and serving is the ultimate aim of an all-round education.'

The school crest is in beige and maroon. The five digits of the hand are in maroon and they symbolize the five desired outcomes for our students: S trive for excellence, E ncourage experimentation, R ejoice in doing good, V alue diversity and E mbrace life-long learning. Starting from a common base, each endeavours towards different heights of achievement. Each is directed at a circle representing a goal which a student sets for himself/herself.

The five digits and the hand also symbolize the six school values: Resilience , Respect , Responsibility , Integrity , Care and working together in Harmony. The design also represents the spines of books on a shelf hence symbolizing learning and knowledge. From here, we derive our motto, 'LEARN and SERVE'.
