Bedok Green Secondary School


Sorry for the late post again, been cropped up with work recently, going to showcase the 5 Bedok Secondary School for today so do keep a look out!

Background Information
Bedok Green Secondary School (abbreviation: BGSS) is a co-educational neighbourhood government secondary school at 360 Bedok North Avenue 3, Singapore. Founded in January 2001, it was housed on the temporary holding site at 2 Bedok South Road and moved to its current location on 31 December 2002.

The first Principal was Mrs Song Geok Hua until her retirement in 2004. The second Principal was Mdm Tay Siok Hwa who took over until 2011. The current Principal is Mr Lim Yu Kee.
The number of staff in the school has increased from 14 at the school's first opening to 139 in 2015, while pupil enrolment is currently about 1,100 at 2015.

BGSS was officially opened on 4 July 2003 by the then Minister of State, Mr Raymond Lim. Its campus consists of six blocks around a garden, a multi-purpose hall, seven computer labs (including an iPAD lab), six science labs, two design and technology workshops, 2 kitchens, a canteen, a library, a dance studio, a music room, a drama Black Box, some 40 classrooms, a synthetic field, and a Pupil Activity Centre (PAC). There is a parade square, where students gather every morning for the flag-raising ceremony.

Bedok Green Secondary School caters for students who are enrolled in the Normal (Technical), Normal (Academic) and Express streams. Students studying the Express stream syllabus will eventually sit for their GCE 'O' Level examination after four years. Those studying the Normal (Academic)/Normal (Technical) syllabus will also sit for their GCE 'N' level examination after four years.
