Jurong West Secondary School

A very unique choice of color combination by the school, makes me feel kind of "heavy"...

On a second note, new year is coming, so I guessed I would be on another break soon also due to school reopening on the upcoming week...

Background Information
Jurong West Secondary School functioned at the old Boon Lay Secondary premises along Jalan Boon Lay from 2 Jan 2001 until it moved to its new present premises at 6, Jurong West St 65 on 18 Mar 2002. The new 3.1 hectare premises, built at the cost of $20 million, included up-to-date facilities such as computer & science laboratories, media resource library & IT resource rooms and special rooms for art, music & dance.

The eagle represents strength of character with outspread wings looking west, guarding the virtues of the school embodied within the school crest. The contoured shape and design of the crest is reminiscent of the badges of the guardians of the civilian society signifying discipline. Above its head and outspread wings, the initials of the school take position and precedence.

The school's virtues are symbolised by the four designs in the two halves of the crest.
Two clasped hands form the shape of a heart symbolising the school's aspiration to create individuals who will serve the needs of the community.

The atomic symbol represents the need to be technologically oriented as mankind explores the realms of the digital age and cyber space.

An unconventional square bulb symbolises imaginative thinking to help nurture creative minds.
A flaming torch representing life-long learning is placed over a scroll signifying academic excellence, the former taking precedence over the latter.

And finally, displayed at the base of the crest, is the school motto reinforcing the courage of the eagle.

St. Margaret's Secondary School

Another simple yet complicated uniform design. In term of hard work, I think is it comparable to the CVSS uniform design. XD

Christmas is just over and I thought of posting something Christmas related~ hahaha

Background Information
St. Margaret’s Secondary School (SMSS) is an autonomous government-aided girls’ secondary school in Singapore, under the purview of the Anglican Diocese of Singapore. It is the first girls’ school in Singapore and is often regarded as the oldest existing girls’ school in the South East Asia.

The school uniform is a one piece dress which features a dark green polka-dotted top, a dark green skirt up to knee length and a dark green school tie with the school logo pinned at the bottom. There are also separate PE shorts, a shirt with different colours depending on different houses and a CCA skirt. White school socks with or without the SMSS logo can be worn. A name tag is worn. The only jacket allowed is the black school jacket or any plain black jacket, and earrings are restricted to plain studs of green, white, black, gold or silver. Hair accessories can only be dark green, white and black.

SMSS is affiliated with St. Margaret's Primary School (SMPS) and Saint Andrew's Junior College (SAJC).

Woodgrove Secondary School

Lower Secondary
Upper Secondary
Sweet! Christmas is just around the corner and I guess I would be busy with gatherings etc so I've decided to post the most unique uniform in Singapore~ (most of you might have guess it though) Worked on this design a week ago just so I could post today, hahaha

The lower secondary uniform is adapted from the japan sailor costume and for the upper secondary uniform, the design on the tie is based on the school logo which really helps brighten the white blouse and dark blue skirt uniform design.

Lastly, Merry Christmas to everyone in advance! Hopefully 2017 would be a better year for this blog :)

Background Information

Woodgrove Secondary school is a secondary school in Woodlands, Singapore. The school was founded by pioneer Principal Mrs Helena Song Kheng Sin in year 2000, and opened by Dr Maliki Osman, MP for Sembawang GRC on 5 July 2002.

The school enrolled 320 Secondary 1 students and supported by 23 teaching and other supporting staffs. The school had its first batch of student candidates taking national examinations in year 2003. In year 2004, the school made news for obtaining the highest percentage of students, 94.7%, achieving 3 or more 'O' level passes and 91.6% achieving 5 or more 'O' level passes.

The school crest depicts birds ready to soar into the sky from a sturdy branch. The birds signify Woodgrovers as dynamic learners, grounded on sound values and daring to fly up high to achieve their goals and overcome future challenges. The leaves signify life and growth in a harmonious, safe and supportive environment as the school prepares the learners well in their pursuits of their dreams.

The colour yellow symbolises positive attitudes and a strong committment to excel in one's responsibilities. Orange mirrors a burning passion, the vigour and hunger for progress as well as a determination to achieve one's goals fast. While green denotes virtue and an appreciation of beauty that the school tries to inculate, the colour white projects purity, integrity and a professional image and standard.

Tanjong Katong Secondary School

Yet another plain uniform design by me simply because I can't get a good glimpse of the tie itself. But if you do have it, you may send an image to my email maybe? :)

Background Information
Tanjong Katong Secondary School, affectionately known as TK, is an autonomous co-educational school located in Katong. Before its autonomous status, the school was named by the Ministry of Education (MOE) as the 'Best Non-Independent and Non-Autonomous Secondary School' in Singapore. TK was presented the 'Ministry of Education's School Excellence Award in 2007 and 2011, which recognises "excellence in both education processes and outcomes", and is regarded as one of the Top non-Integrated Programme (IP) secondary schools in Singapore. The school celebrated its Golden Jubilee - '50 years of establishment' in 2006, with Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong as the Guest-of-Honour.

On the crest of the school is a picture of Leonardo Da Vinci, one of the most versatile geniuses of modern times. He was both a scientist and an artist. Leonardo represents a man with an 'all-round' education. The symbolism of 'flight' in the school's emblem, seen in the bird and flying machine, instills in the students the desire to beyond the realms of ordinary education and to achieve goals, which no one has dared to dream before.

Female students wear a short-sleeved blouse with the school badge on the left at the front of the uniform. The sleeves of the blouse are folded to differentiate TK girls from other schools that have a similar uniform. The skirt is jade-green in colour with box pleats. The TK girl's uniform was designed by one of its first female students, Ms Lim Soo Lan.

Dunman High School

Second uniform for today :) Despite the white top, the metallic buttons made it not as plain as it would be. Simplicity at its finest.

Background Information
Dunman High School (DHS) is an autonomous co-educational secondary school in Singapore offering the Integrated Programme and the Special Assistance Plan(SAP). It is one of the leading co-educational high schools in Singapore in terms of academic results, and one of the largest government schools in Singapore in terms of physical area.

From 2005, the school offered implemented a customised version of the 6-year Integrated Programme called the Dunman High Programme (DHP), which allows all students to bypass the O-Level examinations and directly take the A-Level examinations. To meet the needs of the Integrated Programme, the school moved to a holding school in the former Raffles Junior College at Mount Sinai in December 2006 to allow for upgrading of the current site at Tanjong Rhu.

The land area of the expanded campus increased from four hectares to seven hectares, making Dunman High School one of the biggest government schools in Singapore. In December 2008 the classrooms, general office and staff rooms of the Tanjong Rhu Campus were completed, and the school moved back to the Tanjong Rhu campus. On 2 January 2009 the school opened to a new year with an opening ceremony named "Homecoming" (回家) to welcome students and staff to the upgraded campus.

The school crest of Dunman High School was designed by the late Chen Jen Hao, its second principal, and Liu Kang, a pioneer in local fine art and former art teacher of the school.[19]The two Chinese characters read, from right to left, "Dé míng", the Chinese name of the school. The characters are written in seal script.

Nanyang Girls' High School

It's weekend already?! As promised I'm going to post 2 school uniforms design~ Spend quite a while to figure out how the sleeveless blouse would look like since there is no image available online for referencing. Hope I get it right!

Background Information
Nanyang Girls' High's prescribed uniform is a white sleeveless blouse, a knee-length accordion-pleated skirt with cotton shorts underneath, a PE polo tee (dry-fit), and NYGH ankle socks with plain white shoes. Name tags with different colours for each level must also be worn with the uniform. The colours are rotated each year so that a student, theoretically, can use the same colour of name tag for the four years while she is in Nanyang.

There are three student leadership boards in Nanyang Girls' High. Student leaders from all three boards are to wear a gold name tag along with the uniform. The student councillors have a different uniform from the rest of the school, wearing a white cotton blouse with long sleeves (which are to be folded up).

There is also another set of uniform to be worn only on formal occasions such as competitions. These consist of a slightly-above-knee length white straight skirt, a long sleeve white collared blouse with the red block Chinese characters of the school name sewn on the top right side. Over it is a long sleeve yellow suit and a blue tie over the collar of the white blouse.

Anglican High School

Apologies for unable to post any design yesterday... had some competition going on till end of this weekend :x Meanwhile, here's Anglican High ~ Pretty pleased with the rounded corner collar :)

Background Information
Anglican High School's full white uniform is closely linked to its Chinese cultural roots, much like other schools with Chinese background. Boys wear white studded shirts with five metal buttons (two on the two chest pockets and three on the shirt front), paired with either white shorts for lower secondary or white long pants for upper secondary level. Girls wear white blouses with three metal buttons on the front, along with a white pleated knee-length skirt. Girls may wear shorts underneath the skirt. The school badge is worn on the left chest level. For formal occasions, AHS students will wear a red school tie (and dark green blazers if they are representing the school).

Anglican High School has a demerit point system installed along with the discipline guidelines set by the Ministry of Education. One demerit point is given for minor offences (e.g. late-coming or improper attire), three demerit points for serious offences (e.g. truancy or defiance), and five demerit points for very serious offences (e.g. smoking, fighting or vandalism). Disciplinary actions are taken according to the severity of the offence, whether in or out of school inasmuch as the school is concerned. Compassvale Secondary School

This is definitely one of the most time-consuming design I've ever done, using a combination of shapes and lines to define the design. One of my proudest work pieces I guess.

Background Information
In CVSS, we believe there is a star in all our students and help our students find the compass in their lives and realise the star within. We want all our students to be like the North Star, shining brightly with good character and excellence in both academic and non-academic domains, as a guiding light for the community and the world. We aim to foster a vibrant learning community with a nurturing school climate through diverse and engaging school programmes with ample opportunities for student participation and student voice. Our culture and ethos are ‘Achieve our Best’ (every student a ‘North Star’); ‘Believe in Every Child’ (everyone can achieve and all can succeed); ‘Care for Every Child’ (every teacher guides and mentors each ‘North Star’ in developing holistically as individuals) and ‘Determined to Learn’ (every student comes to school with the right attitude for learning and the mindset of high expectations).

Discipline is an integral part of schooling in Compassvale Secondary School. We believe that discipline forms the bedrock of a student’s development and growth. Only with good discipline will there be effective teaching and learning. The discipline policy in CVSS is, “Every teacher is a discipline teacher and every youth matters”. We aim to nurture our students into self disciplined youths through the inculcation of values, social and emotional competencies.

Presbyterian High School

Version 1 (Without tie)

Version 2 (With tie)
Early morning post ~ Thought of posting 2 sets of uniform on every weekend starting from today so here's the first uniform and we have a well-known school, I came up with 2 version because I think version 2 (with tie) looks much better compared to the plain white blouse. So which version do you prefer, do comment down below :)

Background Information
The crest is topped by two waves signifying the continuous growth and development of the School from its founding as Li Sun High School to the present Presbyterian High School. The dove with a stalk of olive leaves depicts the development of the spiritual and moral life in the School and guides us in our education which is represented by the Book. The cross represents faith in God. The burning bush with its motto "Aflame for Truth", which is also the motto of Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Secondary School, signifies that the school is part of the community of Christians in Presbyterian Churches all over the world. The Latin phrase underneath the bush Nec tamen consumebatur refers to the story of the burning bush and the worldwide Presbyterian church. The white and blue background represents the school colours: white symbolises a quest for truth while blue stands for a pursuit of excellence. The current crest dates back to 1994.

PHS is designed to appeal to parents wishing their sons and daughters to benefit from a tightly-structured and very strict school setting in the service of God. The rules for discipline and the code of conduct lay down rigorous behavioural standards, noting that truancy, vandalism, smoking and other serious offences are severely punished.
